Does your back get tired or even painful when you stand or sit for long periods? Sometimes it can feel impossible to find a comfortable way of sitting and standing, no matter how good you think your posture is. This is because “good posture” often equates to “fighting against” your body’s natural rhythms.
Slumping gets a bad rap in our society, but we can use the relaxing power of the slump to our advantage! By giving yourself permission to do a whole-body slump for a minute or so (i.e. the Super Slump) you can regain your upright posture, but in a way that’s *relaxed and at ease*, and not forceful like military-style posture.
Day 21 of 100 Days of Soulforce:
– How “good posture” often hurts more than it helps
– Why slumping gets a bad rap in our society
– Your body’s natural rhythms: sometimes you just get tired and need to slump!
– The slump as emotional armoring for teenagers
– Live demonstration and walkthrough of the slump x2

What’s “100 Days of Soulforce”?
I’m embarking on a mission to spread the word about Soulforce Performing Arts because I believe it is a needed message for artists of all kinds in our times. To that end, I’m making 100 videos over the coming 100 days (or so) to explain all the different angles and ideas, and to hopefully spark inspiration in you! Each video will have inspirational and practical ideas for you to bring more Soulforce to your life as a performing artist.
These ideas are a part of my upcoming book: “Soulforce Performance Arts: Redefining Artistic Performance, Practice, and Pedagogy in a World That’s Lost Its Mind.” Subscribers to my newsletter will get early access and special perks. 🙂
