The Spirit of the Gift rests on a deeper truth than the belief that we are all separate beings in a world of other. When we live and make art from this place, we are rewarded with incredible ease, creative power, and connection.
In this video, I explain how the Spirit of the Gift transforms how you perform, practice, and teach in you your creative activities.
Day 20 of 100 Days of Soulforce:
– The three characteristics of gifts: sovereignty, release, relationship – How the gift is based on the Self of Interbeing, not separation, and why this matters
– In performing, your art is a gift to your audience, and the audience’s listening is a gift to you
– In practicing, your gains in skill and mastery come as a gift from the “Music Gods”
– In teaching, you are the gift, and your students are a gift
– I also touch on why it feels so frustrating when your students don’t practice

What’s “100 Days of Soulforce”?
I’m embarking on a mission to spread the word about Soulforce Performing Arts because I believe it is a needed message for artists of all kinds in our times. To that end, I’m making 100 videos over the coming 100 days (or so) to explain all the different angles and ideas, and to hopefully spark inspiration in you! Each video will have inspirational and practical ideas for you to bring more Soulforce to your life as a performing artist.
These ideas are a part of my upcoming book: “Soulforce Performance Arts: Redefining Artistic Performance, Practice, and Pedagogy in a World That’s Lost Its Mind.” Subscribers to my newsletter will get early access and special perks.
